Windsurfing and kitesurfing are not the only sports on offer here.

Almost everyone in Europe knows us for being the capital of the winds. But what many don't know is, that Tarifa offers apart of wind- or kitesurf also a varity of other sports like rockclimbing, scuba diving, horse riding, golf, tennis, mountain biking etc.

When Tarifa is mentioned, nearly everybody thinks of the windiest place in Europe. What many people ignore is that apart from windsurfing or kitesurfing, it is an ideal place to practice climbing, scuba diving, horseriding, mountain biking, golf, surf, hang-gliding, tennis, padel-tennis or trekking.

Tarifa has several scuba diving schools that give tuition and rent proper equipment for such immersions.

In Betis (the mountain that separates Tarifa from Bolonia) there are more than 200 climbing routes. These all vary in level.

There are various horseriding centres, such as the Hotel Hurricane, Hotel Dos Mares and Dehesa de Montenmedio.

There are also a number of nearby Golf Clubs. The closest one, a 30min drive from Tarifa towards Cádiz, is La Dehesa de Montenmedio, and is a beautiful, 18-hole course that encompasses a practice circuit and other green areas. In Sotogrande, towards Málaga (around 45min by car), there is a great diversity of high level Golf Clubs.

You can also find tennis courts in many of the Hotels, for example, Hotel Dos Mares, Hotel Punta Sur and also in sport complexes that are part of the Tarifa.

Padel tennis courts can be found in Hotel Dos Mares and in Club Financiero San Miguel in Algeciras (20 mins by car), with more than six grass courts, two of which are glass and all with artificial lighting for nightime play.

There is almost an infinite number of footpaths for hiking, due to the beauty of the whereabouts, but we specifically recommend those in the Parque de los Alcornocales.

In winter, with westerly winds, you can ride the waves in the different beaches such as, Balneario, Millón, Hurricane, Búnquer, Spot Secreto or El Palmar (this one is in Caños de Meca).
